ATTENDANCE
Any active, senior active or past service member who is not
present for at least 60% of the time devoted for the regular meeting, attended
either at this club or any other club, shall be deemed to be absent from such
meeting.
The membership of any active, senior active or past service
member, except as hereinafter provided, whose percentage of attendance is less
than 60% during the first or second 6 months of the club's fiscal year shall
automatically terminate, unless the member is excused by the board for good and
sufficient reason.
Any member who, because of protracted ill health or
impairment, is physically unable to comply with the provisions of this section
may, during the period of its continuance, upon application to the board, be
excused from complying with attendance requirements, and the absence shall not
be computed in the attendance record of the club.
The membership of any active, senior active or past service
member except as provided in this by-law, who is absent from 4 consecutive
regular weekly meetings of this club shall automatically terminate unless such
absence is made up as hereinafter provided, or the member is excused by the
board for good and sufficient reason.
Any member who will be absent from a regular meeting may
make up such absence by attendance at a regular meeting of any other club. This
make-up may be made 14 days prior to the members regular club meeting or 14
days following the meeting.
A member may take application to the board for a leave of
absence if unable to do make-ups and/or will be absent for 4 or more meetings.
This will ensure that their eligibility for membership remains intact. A member
on leave of absence is still counted in the club attendance records. It is
therefore necessary for each member to make up at every opportunity to ensure
club and personal attendance records are kept at a high level.
A member may also be eligible for excused attendance
provided certain conditions are met. This provision is for those members with
over 20 years of membership and are over 65 years of age, and/or those with 15
rostered years and are over 70 years of age.
If you wish clarification on attendance rules and membership
responsibilities or you have special circumstances, please contact the
attendance committee chairperson.
MAKE-UPS
"Make-ups" are made by attending the regular
meeting of any other Rotary Club at any time two weeks before or two weeks
after the meeting missed. When attending a meeting of another Club for a
"make-up", be sure to write legibly or print your name. Club, and
classification on the "make-up" card. Also be sure the name of the
Club visited is on the card. Such attendance at another Club should be reported
to the Secretary as soon as possible. It is your responsibility to assure that
you are properly credited for the "make-up". The Club's average
monthly attendance is recorded in the Monthly Letter of the District Governor
along with similar information pertaining to other Clubs in the District.
When you attend a meeting of your Club, shake hands with and
have a pleasant word for members, visiting Rotarians and guests of Rotarians.
As you make-up at other Clubs you will find that you enjoy most those Clubs
whose members greet you cordially when you arrive and during your visit.
